Leadership Spotlight: Advocacy with Government Affairs

Leadership Spotlight government affairs

The Arizona Multihousing Association (AMA) first coalesced as a small number of multifamily professionals who worked for legislative reform in their industry. The AMA remains committed to this mission today through their Government Affairs program.

Two divisions of the Government Affairs program, the AMA Political Action Committee (AMAPAC) and the Better Government Fund (BGF) form a crucial role in giving the multifamily industry a clear, powerful voice in politics. The AMAPAC allows individuals to directly contribute to affect political decision making and support candidates who defend the multifamily industry. The BGF makes an independent impact on legal matters and elections through corporate contributions.

The Government Affairs program has helped to enact legislation such as the following:

  • Elimination of a cap on Apartment Finder Fees

  • Protection of Landlords’ rights

  • Prohibition of mandatory waste/recycling programs

  • Property Tax Reform

  • Rent Tax Reform

A proactive advocacy team guides the efforts of the AMAPAC and the BGF in order to provide protection and health for the apartment industry!
