Nelson Mandela once said that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” The AMA knows the impact that your continuing education will have in your apartment community, which is why they host two unique educational opportunities: the Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and the National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP).
Certified Apartment Manager (CAM)
The effectiveness of the on-site manager is directly correlated with the quality of resident-management relations, the profitability of the community and the productivity of the employees. This week-long course is recognized by the National Apartment Association (NAA) and attendance at each class is mandatory. During the course you will learn many skills, such as the following:
-
Positive Company Image & Resident Retention

The final exam will be taken in a testing center and the graduates will be listed in the NAA’s Units magazine. The next CAM course will be offered in 2018, however there is also an online course provided by the NAA.
National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP)
The job of leasing professionals is where the rubber meets the road. They are often the first people potential residents meet and they have a large impact on resident retention and high quality resident attraction. Among a multitude of useful skills, you will learn the following:
